Game Recap

The Monticello Mustangs lost to the Albemarle Patriots 15-17 at Albemarle on Friday night. The Patriots kicked a 19 yard field goal on the game’s final play for the win. The Mustangs engineered an 11 play 72 yard drive early in the 4th quarter, taking a 15-14 lead on a two point conversion.

The Mustangs rushed for 211 yards on 46 carries, holding the ball for 28:58 to 19:02 for Albemarle. Junior quarterback Kevin Jarrell rushed for a team high 98 yards on 19 carries and completed 8 of 11 passes on the night. Junior running back Jerrick Ayers added 97 yards on 24 carries. Senior Reid Huffman caught 4 passes for 67 yards while junior Austin Haverstrom added 4 catches for 20 yards.

Monticello will celebrate senior night next Friday as they play Powhatan in their finale regular season home game.
