Game Recap

Coming off an impressive win over Salem on Saturday, the Mustangs visited the Western Albemarle Warriors on Tuesday night ready to go. But it was the Warriors who appeared ready to go as they jumped out to an early 5-1 lead. Not to be denied, the Mustangs’ defense tightened up and the offense came to life with four different Mustangs scoring goals to tie the game 5-5. The two teams battled back-and-forth for the rest of the first half with the Warriors taking a 7-6 halftime lead.

Despite tying the game 7-7 within the first minute of the second half on Kendall Walin’s second goal of the game, and playing hard until the final buzzer, the Mustangs couldn’t keep up with the Warriors, losing by a final score of 14-9.

The Mustangs were led in scoring by Josie Mallory with 3 goals, while Kendall Walin and Paige McGlothlin scored 2 goals each. Carly Harris led a tough defensive effort with 8 saves.

The Mustangs are back in action on Friday night as they visit the Charlottesville Knights for a 7:00 start.
