Game Recap

If there was one word to describe this game it would be “WOW!!!”.  What an exciting game of back-and-forth action that, unfortunately, ended with the Albemarle Patriots winning the game 12-11 in sudden death overtime.

The Mustangs came into the game after a good couple days of practice fired up and ready to go.  The Patriots came out ready to play too, and the two teams battled over the first half to a 5-4 Patriots lead.  After trading the lead back and forth throughout the second half, the Mustangs found themselves behind by 1 with just under a minute to go.  After Coach Holden called a timeout to set up a play, the Mustangs came out and ran the play to perfection to tie the game and send the game into overtime.

Unfortunately the Patriots took possession first in the overtime period and were able to get a goal for the final 12-11 victory.

The Mustangs were led in scoring by Paige McGlothlin with 7 goals, followed by Meghan Walin with 3 goals.  Goalie Carly Harris led a great defensive effort with 7 saves.

The Mustangs conclude their regular season schedule on Thursday as they visit the Fluvanna Flucos.
