Game Recap

With the regional championship on the line, the Mustangs hit the road to battle the Salem Spartans. And what a battle it turned out to be. Both teams came out fired up and ready to go, but it was the Spartans who took early control, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead. After a timeout, the Mustangs settled down. The defense came up with some big stops and the offense came to life, cutting the Spartans lead to 3-2 at halftime.

With momentum on their side, the Mustangs continued to roll to start the second half, scoring 3 more unanswered goals to take a 5-3 lead. But the Spartans refused to give up, fighting back with 3 unanswered goals of their own to go up 6-5. The Mustangs fought until the very end, tying the game 6-6, before suffering a very disappointing 7-6 defeat.

The Mustangs were led in scoring by Paige McGlothlin and Josie Mallory with 2 goals each. Paige led the team with 3 assists.

The Mustangs now continue their quest for a state title as they travel to Riverside on Tuesday for a state semi-final match up. Make a road trip to cheer on the Mustangs!
