Monticello High School’s athletic department is pleased to announce Paul Jones as new Assistant Athletic Director for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year.
Paul Jones has been a Guidance Counselor at Monticello for 10 years, having also spent four years coaching in the Mustangs boys basketball program as a freshman head coach (1 year) and varsity assistant coach (3 years).
As a student-athlete, Jones was a member of the 1994 Louisa state runner-up basketball team before winning two Southern Conference regular season championships as a member of the men’s basketball team at Appalachian State University.
Jones earned his Bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State in 1999 and his Master’s in Counseling in 2006 from Western Carolina University.
“Paul has the unique ability to connect with people very quickly. He cares deeply about the value of our athletics program, and more importantly, the students and coaches in it,” commented Monticello Athletic Director Matthew Pearman.
“High school athletics is all about the people in it,” said Pearman. “As a leader, it is essential that you surround yourself with good people who push you to be better. Paul is a supreme talent that truly embraces students and who will innovate opportunities for both our students and coaches. I am proud he is part of the Monticello Mustangs family.”
