I wanted to keep everyone posted on a few things going on with the baseball program…
1. Baseball weight lifting and conditioning will begin next week. We are still working on the weight room schedule. As soon as we have those times, we will set a schedule for workouts. It is a great opportunity for players to get stronger and faster, while being trained by the baseball coaching staff. We will focus on individual improvements as well as team building programs. Players that are interested in trying out for baseball in the spring, should attend these workouts to improve their strength and coordination prior to tryouts.
2. Baseball will be hosting another showcase tournament next Saturday and Sunday, October 14th-15th. We need help from players to get the field ready between games and to work the scoreboard and music. These are big fundraisers for our program and requires help throughout the weekend. If you are able to help with the tournament please let us know. We will send out the game schedule as soon as we have it from the tournament director.
3. The 6th Annual Monticello Dodgeball Tournament is slated for November 30th starting at 7:00 at Monticello High School. This is our biggest fall fundraiser for baseball and it requires a lot of help from both players and parents. We want everyone to mark this date on their calendars so they are planning ahead to possibly help. I will send out more details as we get closer to the event. The dodgeball tournament is an awesome event for our baseball program and our school. We have donated thousands of dollars to local charities through this tournament. This year will be the same, we will be donating to the local Help Save The Next Girl program.
Thank you all for a great fall baseball season and we look forward to getting back into our winter workouts. Before we know it, our season will be here!
