Thirty-one (31) Monticello High School student-athletes earned all-Central Virginia honors for their efforts during the Spring 2019 season. Each Mustang honoree is listed below, along with the profiles as published in August 4 issue of The Daily Progress for first team recipients.

Olivia Accad (Girls Tennis)
For the second year in a row, Accad carried the mantle for Monticello’s girls tennis team. The junior held the top spot in the Mustangs’ lineup and held her own against some of the top players in the Jefferson District.
Kayla Burton (Girls Soccer)
The senior forward turned in a magical season for Monticello this spring. Burton scored a team-high 29 goals, including the game-winner during the Mustangs’ 1-0 victory over Western Albemarle in the Region 3C championship game. She was a VHSL Class 3 first team all-state selection.
Macy Drumheller (Girls Soccer)
Drumheller developed into one of the top defensive specialists in Central Virginia this spring. The sophomore was the focal point of a Mustangs defense that was one of the top units in the Jefferson District. She was a VHSL Class 3 first team all-state performer.
Kendall Gordon (Softball)
Gordon emerged as one of the team leaders for the Monticello softball team. She provided steady defense up the middle for the Mustangs and was a streaky hitter at the plate. Gordon was a Region 3C honorable mention performer.
Shianna Harris (Softball)
Harris was a fixture at the hot corner this season for Monticello. The senior standout provided depth throughout the lineup with her timely hitting and was stout defensively. She was a Region 3C honorable mention performer.
Hanley Hauser (Boys Lacrosse)
Hauser continues to form the foundation of one of the up-and-coming programs in Central Virginia. The junior standout was among the team’s leading scorers and was an all-Region 4A first-team performer.
Cami Hoke (Girls Soccer)
Hoke was a unique playmaker for Monticello this spring. The senior showed great poise with the ball at her feet and led the team in assists as the Mustangs reached the VHSL Class 3 state semifinals. She was a first team all-state performer.
Dasha Kinlaw (Girls Lacrosse)
Kinlaw had a breakout season defensively for the Mustangs. She was the focal point of the Monticello defense that was one of the top units in the Jefferson District. She was a VHSL Class 4 first team all-state performer.
Lilly Linneweber (Girls Track & Field)
Linneweber garnered all-state honors during the indoor and outdoor season for the Monticello track team. The sophomore finished second in the 3,200 (11:59.31) at the indoor state meet. She followed that up with a sixth-place effort in the same event (11:54.59) during outdoor season.
Josie Mallory (Girls Lacrosse)
Mallory was a perfect offensive running mate to Smith for Monticello’s girls lacrosse team this spring. The senior tallied 50 goals, including several timely tallies in the postseason, and added five assists. She was a Class 4 second team all-state performer. Mallory will play collegiately at Howard.
Tara Meissner (Girls Lacrosse)
Meissner registered 21 ground balls and was very effective in different formations. Offensively, she pitched in two goals and two assists. Meissner was a VHSL Class 4 first team all-state performer.
Emily Morris (Softball)
Morris was a force in the circle and at the plate for the Mustangs. The junior led the team in innings pitched and strikeouts and gave her team a chance to win every time out. At the plate, she was a table-setter at the top of the lineup. Morris was an honorable mention all-region performer.
Becca Nordt (Girls Lacrosse)
Nordt was a fixture on the back end for the Mustangs this spring as the team captured a regional championship. The senior standout was an all-district and all-region selection and was a valuable veteran to make things easier on a first-year goalkeeper.
Mackenzie Scheel (Girls Soccer)
Scheel was nothing short of sensational defensively for Monticello this spring. The sophomore sensation was almost always in the right place and gave plenty of structure and support for her teammates. She was a VHSL Class 3 second team all-state performer.
Hayley Shifflett (Softball)
Shifflett was the anchor of the lineup for a young, but exciting Monticello softball team. The sophomore was among the team leaders in hits and runs batted in for a Mustangs team that reached the regional playoffs. She was a second team all-Region 3C performer.
Caleigh Smith (Girls Lacrosse)
Smith was the top scoring threat for Monticello’s girls lacrosse team this spring. The junior midfielder scored an area-high 87 goals and added 38 assists to finish with a career-best 125 points on the season. She was a VHSL Class 4 first team all-state selection.
Will Trent (Boys Track & Field)
Trent captured his first state title for Monticello at the VHSL Class 3 state outdoor meet. Trailing with less than five meters to go, the sophomore dove to the finish line to claim the 400 title. He also finished seventh in the 200 (23.87). During the indoor season, he was fourth in the 300 (36.75).
Meghan Walin (Girls Lacrosse)
Walin was another key offensive performer for Monticello this spring. The senior standout registered 33 goals, including the overtime game-winner against Rockbridge early in the season. She also added two assists and was named a Class 4 second team all-state performer.
Andrew Watson (Boys Tennis)
The senior posted a singles record of 13-3 and reached the Region 3C singles finals. Two of his three losses this season were to the eventual state singles champion. He will play collegiately at Mary Washington.
Kierstyn Zimmerman (Softball)
Zimmerman had a breakout season in her final campaign with Monticello. The senior second baseman was among the team leaders in hits and RBI and lifted the Mustangs to a come-from-behind win over William Monroe. She was an honorable mention Region 3C performer.
