Will Trent continued his stellar season at the state championships this past weekend. He captured an individual state title in the 400 meter dash. Will set a state meet record of 49.35 and did so in dramatic fashion. Trailing his regional rival, Kofi Johnson of Heritage, with 25 meters to go, Will found an extra gear, dove across the finish line, and won by .01 seconds. Will also finished all state in the 200 meter dash (7th) and helped the 4 x 100 meter relay finish all-state as well with an 8th place finish. The relay ran a season best time of 43.98 and they were led off by Sadiq Brown, Will Trent, Tre Chapman, and were anchored by Malachi Fields. Tre Chapman also earned all-state honors in the triple jump with a 7th place finish. And finally, Will Krehmeyer earned all state with an 8th place finish in the 3200 meter run. Krehmeyer ran a 7 second personal best of 9:53 and moved to number 2 all time for MHS in the 3200. Congratulations Mustangs on a fine state meet weekend.
